A shooting following a high school graduation party in Mobile County has left one teenager dead and another injured. According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on May 11 in the cul-de-sac at the dead end of Tom Hopkins Road.

Deputies responded to the scene, where they found two teens, Zachary Morgan, 18, and Jaylon Rivers, 19, suffering from gunshot wounds. Morgan was transported to a local hospital for treatment, while Rivers was taken to a residence on Wiggins Fork Road in Mount Vernon, where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting appeared to stem from an argument that took place after a group of partygoers moved to the cul-de-sac from a nearby residence where a graduation party for Citronelle High School students was held. The party had been dispersed by the homeowner around midnight.

A juvenile suspect has been arrested and charged with felony murder and first-degree robbery in connection with the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has knowledge about the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 251-574-8633.
