Baldwin County. AL (BuzzReport) – A portion of I-65 in Baldwin County, Alabama, was shut down for several hours Friday night after a Georgia murder suspect was spotted in the area, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was reportedly traveling southbound on I-65 in an 18-wheeler when he allegedly jumped out of the truck and fled into the woods in Baldwin County.

The search for the suspect began before midnight and spanned approximately eight hours, causing traffic to be stopped in both directions at the intersection of I-65 and State Route 287.

After an extensive search effort, officials confirmed the suspect was taken into custody. The interstate has since reopened to traffic.

Details about the suspect’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder were not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
