Jacksonville, FL – The Jacksonville International Airport in Florida has reopened after a massive fire broke out in one of its parking garages on Friday afternoon, forcing the airport to shut down for several hours.

According to airport officials, the fire started in a vehicle on the second floor of the hourly parking garage around noon and quickly spread to about 50 other cars. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene with seven engines and brought the fire under control by 1:30 p.m.

The blaze caused significant damage to the garage, resulting in a partial structural collapse on the second and third floors, followed by a secondary collapse 30 minutes later. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported.

The airport was closed for several hours, causing disruptions to flights and travel plans. However, officials announced that the airport would reopen at 5 p.m., allowing inbound and outbound flights to resume. While the airport is open, the daily and hourly garages will remain closed overnight.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined the type of vehicle in which the fire began. The incident has left many travelers relieved that no one was seriously hurt, but it has also raised concerns about the safety and structural integrity of the parking garage.
