Local Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase on I-65 in Mobile

Mobile. AL. (BuzzReport) – A high-speed chase through Mobile’s interstate highways ended in arrest Tuesday night after a 28-year-old man attempted to evade police. Jammie McCovery was taken into custody around 9:42 p.m. after a traffic stop on I-65 South near Airport Boulevard.

According to authorities, McCovery refused to stop his vehicle, leading officers on a pursuit onto I-10 East. During the chase, McCovery turned off his headlights in an attempt to evade police. However, the pursuit was terminated shortly after.

Minutes later, McCovery lost control of his vehicle near the Dauphin Island Parkway offramp and crashed into a concrete barrier. He attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.

McCovery was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Attempt to Elude. He was transported to Metro Jail.
