Gulfport, Ms – A fatal shooting marred Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Gulfport, Mississippi, on May 5. The Gulfport Police Department is investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 9:36 p.m. in the parking lot of Azteca’s Restaurant & Cantina along Highway 49. According to authorities, a verbal altercation escalated into gunfire, resulting in the death of 34-year-old Gulfport resident Christopher Skinner. Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer confirmed that Skinner sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Responding officers provided medical aid and transported Skinner to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. The investigation is ongoing, with no suspects identified or taken into custody. Investigators are reviewing evidence from the scene and gathering information. The Gulfport Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
