Mobile, AL – (BuzzReport) – Parents at Breitling Elementary School in Grand Bay are raising serious concerns, alleging that school and district officials are failing to adequately address multiple reports of sexual harassment involving a male fifth-grade student and several female students.

Two mothers, Beth Owens and Jennifer Green, claim they have brought the matter to the attention of the school principal, but allege a lack of meaningful action has been taken. They state that the same 5th grade male student has been inappropriately touching their daughters and other female students.

According to Ms. Owens and Ms. Green, the alleged incidents involve the male student touching girls inappropriately and using inappropriate sexual language, including describing what he wants to or will do to them.

Ms. Owens stated she has spoken with the principal but has not received a response regarding specific actions being taken. Ms. Green reported similar interactions, stating the principal advised her to tell her daughter to stay away from the male student. Green also claims the principal told her the student would not be suspended because there were only 14 days left of school.

Frustrated with the perceived lack of response from the school, Beth Owens said she has filed a police report regarding the matter. She also attempted to contact the Mobile County School System Superintendent’s office, leaving several messages but stating she has not received any return calls.

“I feel like me as a parent and my child as a student is not being heard about her safety against sexual harassment. It’s not ok, and it’s not just my child experiencing this, it is multiple kids at the school,” Beth Owens said.

Owens’ daughter has been absent from school since Tuesday, reportedly due to fear of being sexually harassed again. “I’d like the principal to face the consequences of her actions for not following up on this matter and the Mobile County Public School System guidelines on sexual harassment,” Owens added.

Jennifer Green echoed the call for immediate action. “I feel like he should be removed immediately, there are several young girl students there he has done this. Several of the parents have made complaints and nothing has been or being done at all to protect our kids,” she stated.

Parents expressed concern that this situation reflects a potential pattern within the Mobile County Public School System regarding responsiveness to parental concerns and student safety. The provided text referenced an incident in November at Morningside Elementary where a child was reportedly placed on a daycare van without parent consent, with the parent claiming the incident was “brushed off” and he never received a resolution from the principal or superintendent. Parents at Vigor High School were also cited as having concerns about transparency regarding reasons for three principals being placed on administrative leave.

“I spoken to the principal three times, and left voicemails at the school board office and still waiting for a call back and answers to why this is allowed to happen, and how my child will be protected at the school,” Mrs. Green said.

As of the time of this report, it appears the parents are still seeking concrete action and communication from school and district leadership regarding the alleged harassment and the safety of their children.

It’s seems that transparency is lacking in a major way on many levels when it comes to school system administration and parents in Mobile County.

Attempts were made to reach Breitling Elementary School administration and the Mobile County Public School System for comment on these specific allegations, but have not yet received a response.
