Man Arrested After Alleged Assault at Beverly Motel in Mobile

MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport)— A 54-year-old man has been arrested after police say he assaulted another man with an unknown object and a flashlight during an early morning altercation at a Mobile motel.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded to the Beverly Motel, located at 4384 Government Boulevard, at approximately 5:35 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, following reports of an assault.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from minor injuries. The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for additional medical care. Authorities have not released his identity or provided an update on his condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that an argument between the two men escalated into violence. Police allege that the suspect struck the victim multiple times using an unknown object as well as a flashlight, causing the injuries.

Following the investigation, officers arrested Thomas Cholar, 54, in connection with the assault. He was transported to the Mobile Metro Jail, where he was booked on charges related to the incident.

Investigators have not disclosed what sparked the argument or whether the individuals knew one another before the confrontation.
