NEW ORLEANS (BuzzReport)— An early morning shooting in New Orleans’ Seventh Ward has left one man hospitalized, prompting an active investigation by the New Orleans Police Department.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 5:16 a.m. in the area of Touro and Marais Streets. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds to both legs.

Emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital for medical care. Authorities have not released information regarding the victim’s condition.

Investigators have not disclosed what led to the shooting, whether any suspects have been identified, or if arrests have been made. Detectives are continuing to process the scene and gather evidence as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Residents in the Seventh Ward awoke to a significant police presence as officers canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage that could help identify those responsible.
