MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport)— A domestic dispute in west Mobile escalated into violence early Sunday morning, leaving one woman injured and another behind bars after police say an argument inside a home turned into a stabbing.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Schimps Lane at approximately 1:02 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, following reports of a domestic incident involving a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found an adult female suffering from minor injuries. Emergency personnel treated the victim at the scene, but she declined transportation to a hospital for additional medical care.

As detectives investigated the incident, they determined that the altercation stemmed from an argument between two women who were known to each other. During the dispute, police say one woman allegedly used a sharp object to cut the victim inside the residence.

Authorities identified the suspect as Sonja Caffey, 57, who was taken into custody without further incident. She was transported to Metro Jail, where she was booked in connection with the case.

Investigators have not released additional details about what sparked the argument or the relationship between the two individuals. Police also have not disclosed what type of weapon was used during the incident.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Mobile Police Department.
