BESSEMER, AL (BuzzReport)— Two men were killed Tuesday afternoon after an accident involving an Amtrak passenger train in Bessemer, according to local authorities.

Officials confirmed the fatal incident occurred on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, though investigators have not yet released the identities of the victims pending notification of their families.

Emergency crews responded to the scene after reports of a collision involving an Amtrak train and two individuals on or near the railroad tracks. Despite the rapid response from first responders, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not disclosed what the two men were doing near the tracks at the time of the collision, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the tragedy. It remains unclear whether the incident was accidental or if other factors played a role.
