Woman Killed After Being Struck By 18-Wheeler On Rangeline Road In Mobile Identified

MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A tragic early-morning accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman after she was struck by an 18-wheeler along a dark stretch of Rangeline Road in Mobile County.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 7400 block of Rangeline Road at approximately 2:26 a.m. Sunday in response to reports of a serious traffic accident involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered an adult female who had suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a commercial tractor-trailer. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators later identified the victim as Cameron Norwood, 40.

Preliminary findings indicate that Norwood was walking in the roadway on a non-lit portion of Rangeline Road when she was struck by the passing 18-wheeler. Authorities have not released details regarding why she was in the roadway at the time of the collision or whether any contributing factors were involved.
