Mobile Man Charged with Manslaughter Following Deadly Overnight Crash in Tillman’s Corner

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A 20-year-old Mobile man is facing a manslaughter charge after a deadly traffic crash claimed the life of a 55-year-old man early Sunday morning in Tillman’s Corner.

According to authorities, officers responded shortly after midnight to a serious traffic accident near the intersection of Halls Mill Road and U.S. Highway 90. Upon arrival, first responders discovered 55-year-old Anthony Licalzi suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.

Despite emergency efforts, Licalzi was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators with the Mobile Police Department determined that the driver of the other vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Luis Estaban Damas Lopez, was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck Licalzi’s vehicle.

Following the preliminary investigation, Damas Lopez was arrested and transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail, where he was booked on a charge of manslaughter.

The fatal crash remains under investigation as authorities continue gathering evidence and reviewing the circumstances that led to the deadly collision.

The tragedy marks another fatal traffic incident on Mobile County roadways and serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from excessive speed behind the wheel.
