SHREVEPORT, La. (BuzzReport)— Authorities in Shreveport are investigating a devastating mass shooting that left eight children dead early Sunday morning in what officials are calling a domestic-related incident.

According to preliminary information released by law enforcement, officers responded to a residence following reports of gunfire during a disturbance. When authorities arrived, they discovered eight children inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims ranged in age from just 1 year old to 14 years old.

Despite emergency response efforts, all eight children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials described the shooting as stemming from a “domestic disturbance,” though the exact nature of the incident and the events leading up to the violence remain under active investigation. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the suspected gunman or clarified his relationship to the victims.

Law enforcement confirmed that the suspect is either in custody or accounted for, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. However, officials have not provided additional details about whether the suspect was apprehended at the scene or later located.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community in Louisiana and beyond, as residents grapple with the scale of the loss and the young ages of the victims.

Local leaders and law enforcement officials expressed deep sorrow, describing the incident as one of the most heartbreaking cases they have encountered. Crisis response teams and counselors have been made available to assist family members, neighbors, and first responders affected by the tragedy.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, conduct interviews, and work to establish a clearer timeline of events. Authorities say additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact local law enforcement.

This remains a developing story.
