Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — Fire crews with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded to a large-area woods fire Thursday in the vicinity of Hannon Road and Parker Lane, near Dauphin Island Parkway.

Officials reported heavy smoke blanketing the area as flames spread across a significant stretch of brush, grass, and wooded terrain. The fire’s size and conditions prompted a coordinated response, with MFRD working alongside the Alabama Forestry Commission to contain the blaze and prevent it from threatening nearby homes.

Firefighters remained actively engaged throughout the day, focusing on containment lines and reducing the risk to residential structures in surrounding neighborhoods. Authorities have not yet released information on the cause of the fire.

Residents in the affected area are being urged to take precautions, including keeping windows and doors closed to limit exposure to smoke. Officials warn that smoky conditions could linger for the next several days as crews continue suppression efforts and monitor hotspots.

Fire professionals will remain on scene and continue to monitor the area to ensure the fire does not rekindle or spread further. No injuries have been reported at this time.
