MEMPHIS, TN (BuzzReport) — Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty has been arrested by federal authorities and is facing serious charges in what prosecutors describe as a coordinated armed robbery and kidnapping involving fellow rapper Gucci Mane.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Shiesty—whose legal name is Lontrell Williams Jr.—was taken into custody along with at least seven other individuals following an FBI-led investigation spanning multiple cities, including Memphis, Nashville, and Dallas.

Federal prosecutors allege the incident stems from a January 10, 2026 meeting at a Dallas recording studio that was initially arranged as a business discussion regarding Shiesty’s recording contract under Gucci Mane’s 1017 label.

Alleged Armed Takeover Inside Studio

Authorities say the meeting quickly escalated into violence after the victims—described as music industry professionals—arrived at the studio. Prosecutors allege Shiesty and his co-defendants carried out a planned “armed takeover,” with at least one suspect brandishing an AK-style firearm.

During the confrontation, one victim—widely identified in reports as Gucci Mane—was allegedly held at gunpoint and forced to sign documents releasing contractual obligations.

Investigators say the suspects also robbed the victims of high-value items, including Rolex watches, jewelry, and cash. In at least one instance, a victim was reportedly assaulted to the point of near unconsciousness.

FBI Investigation and Arrests

The FBI used a combination of surveillance footage, electronic monitoring data, and social media evidence to build the case, according to federal officials.

Eight of the nine suspects have been arrested, including Shiesty’s father, while one individual remains at large.

Authorities confirmed that arrests were carried out across multiple states, underscoring what investigators describe as a coordinated criminal operation rather than an isolated dispute.

Potential Motive: Contract Dispute

Prosecutors believe the alleged attack was fueled by tensions surrounding Shiesty’s recording contract with Gucci Mane’s label. The meeting itself was reportedly arranged by Shiesty under the pretense of negotiating those terms.

Instead, officials say, the situation was premeditated—turning a business meeting into what they characterize as a targeted ambush.

Legal Consequences

Shiesty and his co-defendants now face multiple federal charges, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and conspiracy. If convicted, several of the charges carry the possibility of life in prison.

The case is particularly notable given Shiesty’s recent release from federal prison in late 2025 following a prior firearms conviction, raising additional scrutiny around his legal history.

Industry Shock and Silence

The allegations have sent shockwaves through the hip-hop industry, where Shiesty was once seen as a rising star under Gucci Mane’s mentorship.

As of Thursday, representatives for both artists have not publicly commented on the charges.

Federal authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests or charges could follow as the case develops.
