Mobile, Ala. (BuzzReport)— A 65-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say he attempted to use stolen identification at a local nonprofit facility in downtown Mobile.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched at approximately 2:20 p.m. on March 31, 2026, to the Waterfront Rescue Mission, located at 279 N. Washington Avenue, in response to a report of a male subject attempting to use identification that did not belong to him.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the individual, later identified as Thomas Harrison, 65. An investigation at the scene revealed that Harrison had allegedly presented a Social Security card bearing another person’s name.

Police determined the identification was not his, leading to his immediate arrest without incident. Harrison was taken into custody and transported to Mobile Metro Jail, where he is being held pending further legal proceedings.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding how Harrison obtained the identification or whether further charges may be filed. The incident remains under investigation.

The Waterfront Rescue Mission, which provides services to individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship, was not disrupted for an extended period, and operations resumed shortly after officers cleared the scene.

Officials remind the public that identity theft and the fraudulent use of personal identification are serious offenses that can carry significant legal consequences.
