A new round of nationwide demonstrations is set to take place later this month, as organizers behind the “No Kings” movement confirmed plans for another large-scale protest on March 28. The announcement came Wednesday from Indivisible, the grassroots group that has coordinated multiple demonstrations across the United States in recent months. In a statement shared on social media platform BlueSky, the organization framed the upcoming protest as part of a broader, ongoing effort to defend democratic institutions. “Everything you’ve done so far — and everything you will be doing in the next weeks and months — is the stuff of history,” the group wrote. “And together we will write the history of how, for the second time in 250 years, We the People defied and overcame a tyrant.” The “No Kings” demonstrations have emerged as a prominent form of protest against the administration of Donald Trump, with events drawing large crowds in cities nationwide since last spring. Organizers say the protests are aimed at what they describe as executive overreach and threats to democratic norms. Participants in previous demonstrations have rallied outside federal buildings, marched through downtown corridors, and gathered at symbolic locations to voice opposition to policies and actions taken by the administration. The protests have targeted not only the president, but also executive agencies and Republican lawmakers aligned with his agenda. Trump has repeatedly rejected criticism that his leadership style resembles authoritarian rule. He has also publicly mocked the demonstrations and their participants. During an earlier “No Kings” protest in October, Trump shared a video on social media depicting himself wearing a crown aboard a fighter jet, in a satirical jab at demonstrators gathered in New York City. Despite such responses, organizers with Indivisible maintain that the protests are rooted in the protection of democratic principles. The group has previously accused the administration of abusing executive authority, including claims of militarizing communities and targeting political opponents. In a recent statement, Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin emphasized the stakes of the movement, calling for continued public engagement. “Democracy is not self-enforcing, and it is still under attack,” Levin said. “Defending it requires courage and sustained resistance from the people and institutions. Since Trump took office last year, people have shown up in record-breaking numbers to say ‘No Kings.’ This year will be a test of our democracy’s resilience.” Organizers have not yet released a full list of participating cities for the March 28 protest, but similar past events have spanned major metropolitan areas and smaller communities alike. Additional details are expected in the coming days as local chapters finalize plans.
