SARALAND, AL (BuzzReport) — A crash involving a school bus in Saraland Monday afternoon left two people injured and caused a widespread power outage affecting hundreds of residents. According to authorities, the collision occurred around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Celeste Road and Radcliff Road in Saraland. Officials said a school bus carrying 11 students struck a power pole after becoming involved in a crash with another vehicle. The impact caused significant damage to the pole, leading to a power outage throughout parts of the area. Two individuals from the passenger vehicle involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with injuries. Their conditions have not yet been released. Authorities confirmed that none of the students on the bus were injured, and the bus driver also escaped injury. Emergency responders evaluated those on board the bus at the scene as a precaution. The crash initially left more than 1,500 residents without electricity. Power crews later worked to restore service, reducing the number of affected customers to approximately 475. Utility crews remained in the area Monday evening repairing the damaged infrastructure and restoring power to impacted homes and businesses. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
