Man Arrested After Alleged Shoplifting Incident at Mobile Walmart

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A Mobile man was arrested Saturday morning after police say he attempted to steal merchandise from a local retail store.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:00 a.m. on March 14, 2026, to the Walmart following a report of a shoplifting incident.

When officers arrived at the scene, they determined that a male suspect had allegedly concealed various items of merchandise inside his clothing while inside the store, according to police.

Authorities identified the suspect as Xavier Smith, 27. He was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Smith was subsequently transported to the Mobile Metro Jail, where he was booked following the arrest.

Additional details regarding the value of the merchandise involved have not yet been released. Police did not indicate whether Smith has appeared in court or if a bond has been set.

The case remains under investigation.
