Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A vehicle crashed into Dog River along westbound Interstate 10 Tuesday, prompting an emergency response and temporary lane closures near the Interstate 65 interchange. According to officials with the Mobile Police Department, officers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 westbound just west of the Interstate 65 interchange. Authorities say the vehicle left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation and entered Dog River. Police confirmed the driver was able to escape the vehicle after it went into the water. The individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was able to make it out safely before first responders arrived. Emergency crews remained on the scene as officials worked to secure the area and coordinate the recovery of the submerged vehicle. A dive team was also preparing to assist in retrieving the vehicle from the river. Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays as crews continue working the crash scene. Authorities say at least one westbound lane of Interstate 10 will remain closed while recovery efforts are underway. Officials have not released the identity of the driver, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
