Baldwin County, AL (BuzzReport) — Two suspects are in custody after a routine traffic stop escalated into a brief pursuit, a crash involving a motorcyclist, and a search through nearby woods in Baldwin County.

According to Baldwin County Sheriff Anthony Lowery, deputies initially attempted to conduct a traffic stop for reasons that have not yet been publicly released. During the stop, the driver fled the scene, prompting a short pursuit and crash on Foley Beach Express north of US 98.

Authorities say the fleeing vehicle struck a motorcyclist before crashing. Following the crash, the driver and a passenger exited the vehicle and ran into nearby woods in an attempt to evade deputies.

Law enforcement officers quickly established a perimeter and were able to locate and apprehend both individuals within minutes.

The motorcyclist involved in the crash was conscious and alert at the scene and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Pensacola for treatment. The extent of the rider’s injuries has not yet been released.

Investigators say the identities of the two suspects have not yet been made public. Sheriff Lowery confirmed that both individuals had outstanding warrants from other agencies and are not residents of Alabama.

During an initial search of the vehicle, deputies reportedly discovered a firearm and illegal drugs.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
