Birmingham, AL (BuzzReport) — Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred late Wednesday night in Birmingham’s South Eastlake neighborhood. According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 78th Street South at approximately 11:48 p.m. on February 18 after receiving reports of a person who had been shot. When officers arrived, they discovered Lamodrick Michael Lovejoy, 54, lying unresponsive on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and pronounced Lovejoy dead. Following an investigation, police arrested Ca’Darius Johnson, 20, on Saturday, February 21. Johnson has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
