Mobile, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Mobile police arrested a man Sunday night after he was observed displaying a firearm in public, authorities report.

Officers responding to a disturbance at approximately 9:00 p.m. on February 15, 2026, near N. Jackson Street and St. Francis Street observed a male subject arguing with another male individual. As officers approached, the subject lifted his shirt to reveal a firearm in his waistband and made threatening gestures toward the weapon.

Police quickly detained the individual and discovered that the firearm, a Glock, had a switch modification installed, which can convert it into an automatic weapon.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Kelvin Barnes, was arrested and transported to Metro Jail. No additional injuries were reported, and authorities said the case remains under investigation.

Police continue to urge the public to report any information related to illegal firearms or threats of violence in the area.
