Man Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop, Abandoning Vehicle in Santa Rosa County

Santa Rosa County, FL (BuzzReport) — Authorities in Santa Rosa County have arrested a man following a dangerous attempt to flee from deputies during a traffic enforcement operation.

According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began on February 10, 2026, when a sergeant attempted to conduct an investigative traffic stop in the area of Highway 90 and Spencer Field Road. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Eric Anthony Donald Olszweski, allegedly refused to stop and fled the scene.

For public safety reasons, deputies terminated the active traffic stop. However, law enforcement continued monitoring the area and later located the suspect vehicle, which was still occupied.

While deputies followed the vehicle at a safe distance, authorities say Olszweski turned off the vehicle’s lights during nighttime hours and ran multiple stop signs, actions investigators say demonstrated a deliberate disregard for public safety.

The vehicle was eventually found abandoned. Deputies located Olszweski and a passenger nearby, where both individuals had allegedly attempted to hide. They were quickly taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding potential charges or the identity of the passenger. The investigation remains ongoing.
