Limestone County, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A routine traffic stop in Limestone County on Thursday led to the seizure of large quantities of illegal drugs and the arrest of a man already facing multiple felony charges. According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Cary Moore and Deputy AJ Davis conducted a traffic stop on Huntsville-Brownsferry Road near Ripley Road on Thursday, January 29, 2026. During the stop, deputies identified the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle as Jarvis Deshun Cain, 47, of Athens. Investigators said deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle. The search resulted in the seizure of nearly a quarter pound of cocaine and approximately seven ounces of MDMA pills. Deputies also discovered a firearm inside the vehicle. Cain is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm, authorities said. Cain was taken into custody and charged with two counts of drug trafficking and one count of certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. Officials noted that at the time of his arrest, Cain was already out on bond for previous charges, including drug trafficking, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Cain is currently being held at the Limestone County Detention Facility on a $1.5 million bond related to the new charges. In addition, a bond revocation has been issued on his prior cases, for which no bond has been set. Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin praised the deputies involved in the arrest, citing their proactive approach to law enforcement. “This arrest reflects the proactive enforcement efforts and exceptional work of our deputies,” McLaughlin said. “Because of the diligence of Sgt. Moore and Deputy Davis, a significant quantity of dangerous drugs has been removed from our streets before it could impact our neighborhoods.
