Wilcox County, AL (BuzzReport) — The Wilcox County Democratic Party has officially announced its slate of qualified candidates for the upcoming 2026 election cycle, marking an important step toward the May Democratic Primary and the General Election in November.

In a formal certification, William M. Pompey, Chairman of the Wilcox County Democratic Executive Committee, confirmed that the following electors have met all qualifications to seek Democratic nomination for county offices.

Qualified Candidates for the 2026 Democratic Primary

Tax Assessor

  • Eli Mack
  • Christine Burrell

Tax Collector

  • Juanita Pettway Kendrick

Sheriff

  • Larry Colston
  • Donald Grimes

County Coroner

  • Jaylin Hall
  • Mark A. Ramsey

County Commission Races

District 3

  • Charilyn Rosetta McConnico, known as “Silky”
  • Jeffery Saulsberry

District 4

  • Charles Lawson
  • Alfred James Murphy
  • Reginald O. Weatherly, Sr.

District 6

  • Lisa Johnson
  • Peggie Pritchett McCall

Wilcox County Board of Education

District 1

  • Marvin A. Carter

District 2

  • Lester Turk

Chairman Pompey noted that some candidates will not appear on the May Primary ballot, including Tax Collector Juanita Pettway KendrickBoard of Education candidates Marvin A. Carter and Lester Turk, as well as members of the Wilcox County Democratic Executive Committee. These individuals have already secured nomination or election under party rules.

However, all Democratic nominees will appear on the General Election ballot in November 2026, giving voters the opportunity to cast their ballots in key county races. Executive Committee members, having already been elected, will not appear on the November ballot.

With contested races in several county offices and commission districts, the 2026 election season is shaping up to be an active and closely watched cycle for Wilcox County voters.
