Two Juveniles Arrested Following Retail Theft at Academy Sports + Outdoors

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A retail theft at a busy Mobile sporting goods store ended with two juveniles in custody Wednesday morning, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to Academy Sports + Outdoors, located at 3725 Airport Boulevard, at approximately 10:51 a.m. on January 28, 2026, after store employees reported suspicious activity involving stolen merchandise.

Upon arrival, officers learned that two juvenile males had allegedly entered the store’s dressing rooms, where they removed security tags from multiple clothing items. Investigators say the suspects then put on the new clothing and exited the business without paying.

The juveniles were identified shortly after leaving the store and were located a short time later by responding officers. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Police say the juveniles were arrested and transported to Strickland Youth Center. No injuries were reported, and the stolen merchandise was recovered.
