Body Found Near Train Tracks in Mobile; Investigation Underway

Mobile, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A man was found dead early Friday morning near train tracks in west Mobile, authorities said.

Officers with the Mobile Police Department responded at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, to the 7100 block of Smith Street after receiving a report of a body discovered in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male victim near the tracks.

Preliminary information indicates the victim may have been struck by a train. However, police emphasized that the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed. An autopsy has been ordered and will ultimately determine how the man died.

The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. Police said the incident remains under investigation, and no additional details were immediately available.
