Mobile Man to Face Grand Jury After Judge Finds Sufficient Evidence in Robbery, Assault Case

Mobile, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A judge ruled Wednesday that prosecutors have presented enough evidence to move forward with charges against a Mobile man accused of robbery and assault following a violent incident captured on surveillance video.

The ruling clears the way for a Mobile County grand jury to consider charges against Tavoris Norwood.

The case stems from an incident on Dec. 11 at the Quick Stop convenience store on Florida Street. According to prosecutors, Norwood was caught on surveillance footage stealing an electric bike from the property.

When the bike’s owner confronted the suspect in an attempt to recover it, prosecutors allege the suspect shot the victim in the leg. The victim survived the shooting.

The judge made the decision after reviewing evidence presented during a preliminary hearing, determining that probable cause exists for the case to proceed.

Norwood remains charged in connection with the incident as the case now moves to the grand jury for further consideration.
