Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A quiet Tuesday afternoon turned tragic in Mobile when a fatal shooting claimed the life of a man following an altercation outside a Forest Park Drive residence. According to Mobile Police, officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Forest Park Drive shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, in response to reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment but succumbed to his injuries a short time later, authorities confirmed. Investigators determined that the shooting occurred during an altercation outside the home and involved two individuals who were known to each other. Police identified the suspect as James Odom, 76, who was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. Odom was arrested and transported to Metro Jail, where he remains in custody as the investigation continues. Police have not yet released details regarding the circumstances that led to the confrontation or whether charges have been formally filed.
