Greenwood, Miss. (BuzzReport) — A Christmas Eve shooting in Greenwood left two people dead and two others injured, marking a violent end to the holiday for the community. The shooting occurred around 8:18 p.m. in the 300 block of East Market Street. Officers with the Greenwood Police Department responded to the scene and found two individuals deceased. Two additional victims were located with injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening. Emergency medical personnel provided treatment to the injured victims, who were later transported for further care. Authorities have not released the identities of any of the victims as the investigation continues. Police confirmed the incident was not officer-involved, addressing misinformation circulating online that suggested otherwise. As of Wednesday, no arrests had been announced, and investigators have not disclosed a possible motive. The Greenwood Police Department continues to actively investigate the shooting and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
