Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — The Mobile Police Department is alerting the public after receiving multiple reports of credit and debit card skimmers discovered at several local discount stores across the city.

According to police, skimming devices have been found on card payment machines at six Family Dollar locations and one Dollar Tree store since Friday, December 19, 2025. These illegal devices are designed to secretly capture sensitive financial information, including card numbers and PIN data, without a customer’s knowledge or consent.

The reported locations include:

Family Dollar

  • 653 Stanton Road
  • 408 N. Broad Street
  • 4726 Moffett Road
  • 2755 Pleasant Valley Road
  • 1354 Navco Road
  • 316 S. University Boulevard

Dollar Tree

  • 410 Bel Air Boulevard

Police say similar incidents have been reported in other jurisdictions in recent days, raising concerns as holiday shopping activity increases. Investigators are actively reviewing the complaints and working to identify those responsible.

The Mobile Police Department urges shoppers to remain vigilant by inspecting card readers before use. Loose parts, unusual overlays, or anything that appears out of place should be considered suspicious. Customers are also encouraged to monitor bank statements closely and report any unauthorized transactions immediately.

Anyone who discovers a suspicious device or believes their financial information may have been compromised should contact local law enforcement right away.

As the holiday season continues, authorities emphasize that awareness and quick reporting are key to preventing further fraud and protecting personal financial information.
