Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A police pursuit through a busy Mobile corridor ended in tragedy Tuesday night, leaving one man dead and a woman hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into a tree. According to Mobile Police Department officials, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 8 p.m. on Government Street. The driver failed to comply, prompting a pursuit that moved away from the initial stop location and continued through city streets. The chase came to an abrupt end in the 100 block of Fulton Street when the fleeing vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the vehicle survived the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition has not been released. Authorities have not yet disclosed the reason for the initial traffic stop or additional details surrounding the pursuit. The incident remains under investigation, and police are expected to provide further information as it becomes available.
