HOOVER, AL (BuzzReport)— Highland Manor Court in Hoover was the scene of a devastating discovery Tuesday morning, as police responded to a welfare check that revealed two residents dead inside their home. Authorities say the incident unfolded around 9:03 a.m. in the 700 block of Highland Manor Court, where a concerned family member arrived to check on a husband and wife.

Upon entering the residence, responders found Christina Nicole Chambers, 38, and Johnny Rimes, Jr., 41, lifeless, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Their three-year-old child was found unharmed in the home and is now in the care of relatives.

Investigators with the Hoover Police Department have indicated that the deaths are being treated as a murder-suicide, though the official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office. Detectives continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, piecing together the events that led to this sudden loss.

Authorities have stressed that no further information will be released until their work is complete, as they focus on ensuring accuracy and sensitivity during a profoundly difficult time for the families involved.
