Crime scene do not cross tape.

MOBILE, ALABAMA (BuzzReport) — A seemingly effortless theft of an idling car on Sunday quickly escalated into a dangerous pursuit across Mobile streets on Monday afternoon, culminating in a crash that led to the arrest of two male juveniles.

The incident began around 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2025, when Mobile Police Department officers patrolling the area of Tingle Circle E observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen the previous day. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver immediately refused to pull over, initiating a short but tense chase through residential areas.

The pursuit ended abruptly just blocks away in the 500 block of Rickarby Street when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Following the crash, officers secured the scene and took two male juvenile subjects into custody. Neither the juveniles nor the officers reported serious injuries.

According to police records, the vehicle was initially reported stolen on Sunday, November 23, 2025. The owner had reportedly left the vehicle running and unattended in the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Stocking Street—a common scenario often labeled by law enforcement as a “puffer” theft, where vehicles are stolen specifically because they are left running to warm up.

The swift recovery of the vehicle highlights the risks associated with this type of theft, which often results in dangerous activity when the stolen cars are used in subsequent crimes or high-speed attempts to evade law enforcement.

The two arrested juveniles have been transported and booked into the Strickland Youth Center, facing charges related to the stolen vehicle and the refusal to stop for police. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the theft itself, noting that additional arrests related to the initial incident are still possible.

Police are reminding residents that leaving a vehicle running unattended, even for a short time in a private drive, creates an easy opportunity for opportunistic criminals and exposes the community to the subsequent dangers of reckless driving and pursuits.
