MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) – A Monday evening collision on one of Mobile’s busiest thoroughfares claimed the life of a young man, police confirmed early Tuesday morning. Joseph Stanton II, 24, of Mobile, was pronounced deceased shortly after his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle making a turn on Schillinger Road.

The Mobile Police Department (MPD) reported that the crash occurred on Monday, November 24, 2025, at approximately 7:05 p.m., near the intersection of Schillinger Road and Glider Avenue.

According to preliminary reports, officers arrived on scene to find Mr. Stanton suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Dynamics of the Fatal Crash

Investigators determined that the collision occurred when a vehicle traveling southbound on Schillinger Road attempted to execute a right turn into an adjacent parking lot. As the vehicle turned, it struck the motorcycle operated by Stanton.

The stretch of Schillinger Road, particularly near Glider Avenue, is known for its high volume of traffic and multiple access points for commercial businesses, making the area a frequent site for accidents involving turning vehicles.

The driver of the automobile involved in the collision remained on the scene and was reported to be uninjured.

Active Investigation Underway

Authorities have not released any further details regarding the identity of the driver or the immediate circumstances leading up to the turn. The crash site required extended closure Monday night as MPD Traffic Homicide investigators processed the scene.

“This remains an active investigation,” a department spokesperson stated Tuesday morning. “No further information regarding potential charges or the sequence of events will be released at this time as investigators work to reconstruct the events leading to the tragic loss of life.”

The Mobile Police Department urges anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information related to the movements of either vehicle prior to the crash to contact the MPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
