Jackson, Ms (BuzzReport)- Jackson authorities have announced an arrest in connection with the tragic shooting death of a 19-year-old last week. Fredrick Wright, 33, was taken into custody days after the incident that claimed the life of Lawrence McElroy, Jr. Law enforcement officials confirmed Wright’s apprehension on November 21, 2025. He now faces serious charges, including murder, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a machine gun conversion device. The charges underscore the gravity of the allegations against him. Fredrick Wright The fatal shooting occurred on November 17, 2025, around 1:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Tougaloo Street. Investigators reported that Lawrence McElroy, Jr., was exiting his residence when a silver Hyundai Sonata drove past. The vehicle, occupied by three Black male suspects, then opened fire. McElroy sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died as a result of the attack. Following the shooting, the suspects’ vehicle quickly fled the scene. Wright made his initial court appearance on November 24, 2025. During the proceeding, judicial authorities ruled against granting him bond, indicating the severe nature of the charges and the city’s commitment to addressing violent crime.
