THOMASVILLE, AL (BuzzReport) – A Thomasville man faces a capital murder charge following the gruesome discovery of two teenagers found deceased in Wilcox County over the weekend. While an arrest has been made in the double homicide, authorities are actively pursuing leads related to a potential third murder linked to the escalating crisis.

Courtney Anderson, 27, of Thomasville, was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon and booked into the Wilcox County Jail. He is charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of 18-year-old Keyontae McCall of Thomasville and a 17-year-old girl, who was also a minor.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) quickly launched a double homicide investigation after Special Agents with the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) were called following the discovery of the two victims. The bodies, both showing signs of fatal gunshot wounds, were located near Ralph Ervin Road in Pine Hill, an area of Wilcox County.

The scope of the investigation dramatically widened as law enforcement focused on the Thomasville area. The Mayor of Thomasville, Sheldon Allison Day, publicly stated through a social media post that the overall incident involved three fatalities and confirmed the massive deployment of specialized agencies.

Investigators initially focused on a residence in Thomasville. Multiple agencies, including the FBI, the U.S. Marshals, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, converged on a home on Clarke Street Saturday morning in search of the suspect. Officials believe Anderson was present at the location initially but managed to leave the property and exit the Thomasville area before authorities arrived.

The bodies of the two teens were discovered Saturday morning, and Thomasville police confirmed the discovery before the case was formally turned over to ALEA for intensive state investigation.

While Anderson has been charged in the deaths of McCall and the 17-year-old girl, law enforcement confirmed that no arrests have been made regarding the third potential victim mentioned by local officials. The investigation into the third case remains active and separate from the charges currently filed against Anderson.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirms the probe is ongoing and complex. All findings and evidence collected in the double homicide investigation will ultimately be transmitted to the Wilcox County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution
