Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – A quiet Sunday evening on the University of South Alabama campus was shattered by gunfire, leaving one man injured and authorities launching an urgent manhunt. The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. in a campus parking lot, sending ripples of concern through the university community.

University officials have confirmed that the victim, who was shot in the parking lot, resides in the Central Housing Apartments. However, they emphasized that the individual is not currently enrolled as a student at USA. The severity of his injuries has not been released, and no names have been made public as the investigation is in its initial stages.

Both Campus Police and the Mobile Police Department are actively investigating the incident and are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect. Preliminary reports indicate that the alleged assailant fled the scene in a black vehicle, possibly an Acura. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward.

A witness, who wishes to remain anonymous, described hearing a “handful of shots” and subsequently seeing the injured man running in front of the apartment buildings, clutching his stomach. The witness’s account paints a vivid picture of the chaos that erupted in what is typically a tranquil campus environment.

This is an ongoing investigation. The Buzz Report will you more information when it becomes available.
