NEW ORLEANS, LA (BuzzReport) – The New Orleans Police Department is actively investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a boy late Wednesday afternoon in the Hollygrove neighborhood. The victim, whose age has not yet been released by authorities, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police reports, officers responded to calls of gunfire around 4:30 p.m. in the 8600 block of Palmetto Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the young male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics confirmed the boy’s death at the location.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the boy, nor have they provided any information regarding potential suspects or a motive for the shooting. The incident marks another grim reminder of the challenges facing parts of the city concerning gun violence.

NOPD investigators are currently canvassing the area, seeking witnesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage that may shed light on the circumstances leading to this tragedy. The department urges anyone with information related to this fatal incident to contact the Homicide Section directly or submit an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers Greater New Orleans.
