FAIRHOPE, AL (BuzzReport) – Fairhope Police have quickly arrested two Foley residents, charging them with Robbery in the First Degree following an alleged armed holdup that unfolded during a car-for-sale meeting arranged through social media.

Ayzia Lynette Williams, 24, and Jaylin Benard Brown, 19, both of Foley, were taken into custody after investigators tracked an attempted electronic transfer that allegedly tied them to the crime.

According to police, a Mobile man had responded to a social media post advertising a car for sale and arranged to meet the purported sellers in Fairhope. The encounter quickly escalated during a test drive when the male suspect allegedly brandished a handgun. He then reportedly seized the victim’s cell phone and handed it to a female accomplice, positioned in the backseat, who attempted to initiate an electronic transfer of funds to her account via a cash application.

In a moment of quick thinking, the victim managed to escape the vehicle and run for assistance. The attempted transaction, though unsuccessful for the alleged perpetrators, proved to be their undoing. Investigators swiftly determined that the electronic transfer attempt, even incomplete, left a digital breadcrumb trail that directly led them to identify Williams and Brown as the suspects.

Both individuals have been charged with Robbery 1st Degree and are being held as the investigation continues.
