MOBILE, AL – A early Tuesday morning at an automotive repair shop in Mobile devolved into a shocking display of violence yesterday when a dispute over vehicle service escalated into a shooting, leaving one employee fighting for his life. The incident occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Williams Automotive & Transmission, located at 367 Bay Shore Avenue. Mobile Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the scene following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male employee suffering from life-threatening firearm injuries. He was immediately transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity. According to preliminary reports, the confrontation began when a customer, identified as Jerrell Elkins, 38, engaged the employee in a heated argument regarding work performed on his vehicle. Investigators determined that during the altercation, Elkins allegedly produced a weapon and shot the employee before fleeing the area on foot. MPD launched an immediate search and investigation, focusing on identifying the subject who had fled the scene. Within hours, detectives successfully identified Jerrell Elkins as the alleged shooter. Officers located and apprehended him later in the day. Elkins was arrested and transported to Metro Jail. He is currently being held on serious felony charges pending a formal judicial review. Authorities have not yet specified the exact charge, though serious assault and attempted murder charges are anticipated given the critical nature of the victim’s injuries. The condition of the injured employee remains closely monitored by medical staff, as police prepare to present their evidence to the District Attorney’s office.
