MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) — A major two-alarm structure fire swept through 3Circle Church in Midtown Mobile during the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning, requiring a massive response from the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) and leaving the historic church’s sanctuary extensively damaged. MFRD officials confirmed that the intense blaze, located at 150 South Sage Ave., saw dozens of units respond to the scene as flames engulfed sections of the building. Remarkably, MFRD reported that there were no injuries to either firefighters or civilians during the incident. The fire department mobilized around 50 MFRD firefighters in response to the emergency call. The two-alarm designation signifies the severe degree and rapid growth of the fire, necessitating a large concentration of personnel and apparatus to bring it under control. Crews worked for hours to contain the destruction. Fire department officials stated that the sanctuary area inside the church sustained “extensive damage” due to the intense heat and flame spread. Despite managing to suppress the main body of the fire by later in the morning, the operation stretched throughout the day. Persistence was key as crews dealt with stubborn pockets of fire. As of the 6 p.m. hour Thursday evening, at least one fire engine remained on site, with MFRD personnel actively addressing lingering hot spots and performing overhaul operations to ensure the structure was completely extinguished and secured. The cause of the devastating fire at 3Circle Church remains officially under investigation by MFRD authorities. Further updates are expected as investigators examine the debris and structure in the coming days.
