Pensacola, FL (BuzzReport)– A quiet stretch of Lillian Highway turned tragic in the early hours of Saturday morning when a 51-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by an allegedly intoxicated driver who then fled the scene. Now, 42-year-old Hannah Miatta Williams sits behind bars, charged with DUI manslaughter, hit-and-run, and evidence tampering—a cascade of charges stemming from what law enforcement describes as a shocking and preventable loss of life.

A Deadly Collision, A Cowardly Flight

At approximately 12:05 a.m., the victim—whose identity has not yet been released pending family notification—was bicycling eastbound when Williams, operating a maroon 2015 Honda sedan, crossed into his lane. The front right corner of her vehicle collided with him with brutal force, yet rather than stopping to render aid, Williams allegedly sped away, leaving the man dying on the darkened roadway.

First responders rushed the bicyclist to a local trauma center, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Meanwhile, Florida State Troopers and Escambia County Deputiesscoured the scene—and one critical piece of evidence sealed Williams’ fate.

The Bumper That Betrayed Her

Amid the wreckage, investigators discovered a chunk of front bumper—marked with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that led them straight to Williams’ doorstep. But when authorities arrived at her residence, they found her not only covered in the aftermath of another crash—this time with an electrical junction box—but also attempting to scrub her vehicle clean, according to arresting officers.

Troopers noted clear signs of impairment, and Williams later blew a staggering 0.180 BAC—more than twice Florida’s legal limit

Justice Demanded for the Victim

Williams now faces a litany of charges, including:

  • DUI Manslaughter (Felony)
  • Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death (Felony)
  • Tampering with Evidence (Felony)
  • Child Neglect (Authorities have not yet disclosed if children were present during the incident.)

She is being held without bond at the Escambia County Jail, where she will await her first court appearance.

A Community Left Reeling

As investigators piece together the final moments of the victim’s life, outrage simmers among Pensacola residents, many of whom frequent the same roads. “How do you hit someone and just keep driving?” one local cyclist demanded. “She didn’t just take a life—she tried to cover it up.”

Florida Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unitcontinues its investigation, and additional charges could follow. For now, a family mourns, a suspect sits in custody, and a stark reminder lingers: One reckless decision can shatter countless lives in an instant.
