Former Huntsville Pastor Pleads Guilty to Federal Wire and Tax Fraud

Huntsville, AL (BuzzReport) – A prominent former Huntsville pastor, Adrian Davis, has agreed to plead guilty to federal wire fraud and filing a false tax return, admitting to misusing hundreds of thousands of dollars in church funds for personal gain and underreporting his income. The charges stem from his tenure as the lead pastor of All Nations Worship Assembly (ANWA).

Court records indicate that Davis, who also served as a marketing consultant for ANWA, received a salary and parsonage for his services. However, authorities allege he diverted a significant portion of these funds for unauthorized personal expenses, despite the church authorizing his compensation.

Investigations revealed a pattern of misuse, with Davis accused of spending church money on a lavish lifestyle. In 2018 and 2019, he purchased vehicles, including a 2016 GMC Yukon for over $45,000. Further expenditures included more than $35,000 on miscellaneous entertainment and retail items that lacked church approval. The accusations extend to using over $24,000 of ANWA funds to cover a mortgage payment for his mother’s home and settling personal credit card debts, including a substantial $117,000 payment to American Express, facilitated by wiring money directly from the church’s bank account. In total, federal documents outline over $400,000 in ANWA funds used for Davis’s personal purposes without authorization over several years.

Beyond the misuse of church finances, Davis also faces charges for filing a false tax return. Federal authorities state that in March 2021, he reported an income of $138,621 on his tax return, an amount allegedly far less than his actual earnings.

Davis has formally signed a plea agreement for both charges. As part of this deal, he is obligated to pay restitution totaling nearly $550,000. This amount includes over $434,000 designated for All Nations Worship Assembly and more than $114,000 for the Internal Revenue Service.

The maximum penalty for wire fraud is 20 years in federal prison, while filing a false tax return carries a maximum sentence of three years. Davis is scheduled for arraignment on October 23 at 9:30 a.m. in Huntsville, marking the next step in this significant federal case.
