George County, MS (BuzzReport) – A tense, late-night vehicle pursuit through rural George County ended in the arrest of two Lucedale residents early Thursday morning, August 28, 2025. According to the George County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted a routine traffic stop along Don Barton Road at approximately 1:10 a.m. The driver, later identified as Michael H. Sutton, 43, refused to comply and instead led deputies on a high-speed chase that lasted close to half an hour. Michael H. Sutton During the pursuit, officers reported seeing passenger Michelle L. Hile, 42, discarding items from the fleeing car. With additional units joining the chase, deputies coordinated the deployment of spike strips, successfully forcing the suspect’s vehicle to a halt. Hile A subsequent search uncovered a significant haul of contraband, including firearms, controlled substances, jewelry, coins, and assorted property believed to be linked to criminal activity. Authorities confirmed that Sutton faces multiple charges, including: Possession of a Controlled Substance Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon Fleeing Law Enforcement Reckless Driving Possession of Paraphernalia Investigators also revealed that Sutton was wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a probation violation at the time of his arrest. Hile, meanwhile, has been charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence. Both suspects were transported to the George County Regional Correctional Facility, where they remain pending an initial appearance before a George County Justice Court Judge.
