Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – Samantha Ingram has made a resounding statement in the race for Mobile’s District 2 City Council seat, securing a decisive victory Tuesday night and avoiding a runoff election. Ingram will be the newest member of the Mobile City Council, triumphing outright over incumbent Council Member William Carroll and community activist Reggie Hill. The citizens of District 2 spoke, and they spoke loud and clear, choosing a new direction for their representation. Ingram’s ability to win outright in a three-way contest against both an established incumbent and a vocal community challenger underscores a strong desire for new leadership among voters. Her campaign successfully resonated with constituents, leading to a clear mandate to represent District 2 without needing a second round of voting. The path to victory for Ingram was not without its challenges. Late in the campaign, community activist Reggie Hill brought a legal challenge questioning Ingram’s residency qualifications. However, the challenge failed to gain traction in the legal system, and Ingram consistently maintained her full compliance with all residency requirements. Her campaign, and ultimately the voters, affirmed her legal standing. Official results confirm Samantha Ingram garnered an impressive 3,277 votes, equating to 52.72% of the total. This comfortably surpassed the 50% threshold needed to avoid a runoff, cementing her victory. Incumbent William Carroll received 2,678 votes (43.16%), while Reggie Hill trailed with 256 votes (4.13%). Following the announcement of her victory, Ingram expressed her profound gratitude to the voters. “I am incredibly humbled and honored by the trust the people of District 2 have placed in me,” Ingram stated. “This victory isn’t just mine; it belongs to every citizen who believes in a brighter future for our community. We worked hard, we listened, and now we’re ready to get to work on the issues that matter most.” Regarding the earlier legal challenge, she added, “The voters have sent a clear message that they stand with me and my qualifications. My focus has always been on serving this district fairly and effectively, and that’s what I intend to do from day one.” Ingram’s entry onto the Mobile City Council marks a significant shift for District 2. She is set to be officially sworn into office this fall, beginning her term with a clear and decisive mandate from the district’s residents.
