Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – Get ready, Gulf Coast! Amtrak’s Mardi Gras Service is rolling into Mobile, Alabama, bringing with it a new era of rail travel between the Port City and New Orleans. Starting Monday, August 18th, passengers can enjoy twice-daily, round-trip service between Mobile and New Orleans, with stops in charming Coastal Mississippi communities.

Route and Schedule

The Mardi Gras Service will make four stops along the Gulf Coast, including

  • Bay St. Louis, MS: Experience the quaint charm and coastal views of this Mississippi town
  • Gulfport, MS: Visit the casinos, seafood restaurants, and sandy shores of Gulfport
  • Biloxi, MS: Enjoy the casinos, seafood, and scenic views of Biloxi
  • Pascagoula, MS: Explore the beautiful bayous and riverfront parks of Pascagoula

The train will depart Mobile twice daily, with return trips from New Orleans also occurring twice daily. Here’s a glimpse at the schedule:

  • Eastbound (from New Orleans to Mobile):
    • Departing New Orleans: 5:31 PM (afternoon service) and 7:35 AM (morning service)
    • Arriving Mobile: 9:14 PM (afternoon service) and 11:18 AM (morning service)
  • Westbound (from Mobile to New Orleans):
    • Departing Mobile: 6:30 AM (morning service) and 4:30 PM (afternoon service)
    • Arriving New Orleans: 10:13 AM (morning service) and 8:13 PM (afternoon service)

Ticket Information

Passengers can purchase tickets online through Amtrak’s official website or mobile app. Ticket prices start at $15 one way. Unfortunately, tickets won’t be sold at the Mobile station due to the lack of a ticket counter, so passengers are advised to bring their tickets with them.
