Los Angeles, CA (BuzzReport) – Early Saturday morning, a vehicle drove into a crowd on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, leaving multiple people injured. According to reports from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), three people are in critical condition, six are in serious condition, and 19 are in fair condition following the incident.

Images from the scene depict a damaged grey vehicle positioned on the sidewalk with debris scattered around. Dozens of firefighters were present at the scene, alongside people being tended to on blankets.

A witness who was inside a nearby nightclub described hearing a “loud bang,” initially believing it to be gunshots. “We look out the club, and it’s a car into the hole right there,” he said. “And then it’s crazy, because people everywhere, laying down, unconscious, people, bleeding out and stuff.”

Captain Adam VanGerpen of the LAFD told media that the vehicle hit a taco cart before running into a large number of people outside a nightclub. He noted that the driver reportedly lost consciousness. VanGerpen also mentioned there were reports of a gunshot wound in one of the patients. The LAFD was dispatched to the scene at 2 a.m. PDT.

Sgt. Travis Ward of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division stated that it was too early to determine if the incident was intentional, adding that an investigation is ongoing. A total of 124 fire personnel assisted at the scene.

This is a developing story.
