Montgomery, AL (BuzzReport) – A deadly confrontation unfolded Sunday morning in Montgomery after a high-speed police chase spanning over an hour came to a tragic end. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), 27-year-old Jacob B. Hutchinson of Lawley was fatally shot by law enforcement officers following a pursuit that began in Prattville.

The incident started Saturday evening around 8 p.m. when a state trooper attempted to pull over Hutchinson, who was riding a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle on Cobbs Ford Road in Prattville. Hutchinson refused to stop and instead fled onto Interstate 65, heading south. The chase continued for approximately 11 miles before coming to an end in the 2800 block of Springfield Drive within the Montgomery city limits.

Upon stopping, Hutchinson abandoned his motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers pursued him, and the situation escalated when Hutchinson allegedly pulled out a knife. Law enforcement responded by discharging their firearms, resulting in Hutchinson’s death.

Fortunately, no officers were injured during the confrontation. The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation has launched a thorough investigation into the incident, and the findings will be submitted to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s office upon completion.
